To play SFC:OP in multiplayer on Gamespy, you need to patch to version 2552 and have Firesoul's OP plus 4.0 shiplist. CUGS.org has both of these, as well as other patches that enhance the game. They also have groups of fleets, if you want to join one.

This is a forum thread describing all the major races and how to fly them. It's actually for SFB, but it is still helpful, as long as you know that a "hex" in SFB is a "unit" in SFC.

What? I put a Gorn site up here?? Well actually it's a very good site with lots of Gorn tactics. This is helpful in two ways:
1) many Gorn tactics work with Rommies.
2) it will show you what to watch out for when fighting a Gorn.
